Dr. Heather Martinez currently serves as the Senior Director of the Office of Community Engagement, the Office of Academic Enrichment and The Institute for the Development and Enrichment of Advanced Learners, all three of which are part of the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity and Community Engagement at Texas Tech University. Prior to this position Dr. Martinez held executive positions in the fields of economic development, health care administration and educational branding and advocacy.
In addition to her duties in the role of director, Dr. Martinez holds positions on the Volunteer Center of Lubbock Board of Directors, the Louise Hopkins Underwood Center for the Arts Advisory Council and the Texas Tech University Gender Equity Council as well as several other educational and community councils.
Dr. Martinez holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, a Master’s of Business Administration and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Administration. Her research interests include the impact of culture and social identity on the academic success and educational attainment of minority students. Dr. Martinez is a proud alumna of Kappa Delta Chi Sorority Incorporated and was recently chosen as the Lubbock Hispanic Association of Women’s Hispana of the Year in Education.
