Rick Gomez, executive director-workforce diversity & inclusion, has more than 20 years of progressive human resources leadership experience. Throughout his AT&T career, he has been recognized repeatedly as a strategic human resources business partner, aligning business goals and objectives with human resources and corporate strategy.
Rick moved into his current position in 2015. He develops and implements the company’s diversity & inclusion strategy, including partnering with other business units to achieve their annual diversity & inclusion goals. He also oversees AT&T’s awards submission process, manages relationships with AT&T’s employee resource groups/employee networks and all Diversity & Inclusion sponsorship/events with external stakeholders.
In 2013, Rick was promoted to executive director-AT&T college recruiting. He built a new organization and strategy to find the best talent from college campuses nationwide. He also created a new program, the ACE University Relations Program, to align AT&T’s relationships with key campuses and leverage the company’s senior executives.
In 2012, he moved to the human resources talent operations organization as director-staffing. There, he oversaw staffing delivery of all nonmanagement openings in the network, finance and consumer organizations, resulting in more than 15,000 hires annually.
Rick became director-merger integration in 2011 to oversee a large wireless acquisition. As such, he was responsible for overall merger integration activities of the finance, human resources, external affairs, legal and corporate development business units.
In 2010, Rick began serving as chief of staff to the senior vice president of human resources. He managed the executive support of the human resources services delivery leadership team and supported 240,000 domestic and international employees. He also led the HR business partner team for the customer information services & labor organizations.
In 2009, Rick became director-mergers and acquisitions, responsible for developing strategies/solutions to transition human capital to AT&T. He developed human resources architectural support for several company acquisitions.
He has held positions in several other HR organizations since he began his career with Southwestern Bell Mobile Systems in 1997, including Benefits, Compensation, Payroll, Labor and Staffing.
Rick graduated from the University of North Texas with a bachelor’s degree in business administration-human resources management. He is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management as a senior professional in human resources (SPHR).
